A Bigger Stage for Racing

Racing has outgrown the phone, so we've moved it to the laptop and we're taking full advantage of this opportunity to deliver our most ambitious racing overhaul yet. From tournaments and high-stakes betting to pink slips, racing crews and an entirely new track builder, we're bringing plenty of new features for you to get excited about!

Here's a look at what's new, what's staying, and what we've been working on behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

Highlights

Tournaments

Compete solo or with your crew in organized tournaments, climb the brackets and fight for the prize pool.

Betting

Back your favorite racer, place your bets and win big when they cross the finish line.

Pink Slips

Put your ride on the line, winner takes all.

Crews

Form your crew, build your reputation and race your way to the top.

Track Builder

Take full control of your creations with freecam placement and a completely rebuilt track editor.

ELO IMPROVEMENTS

New seasons don’t start completely from scratch, and your first three races count double.

Time Trials

Sharpen your racing skills at your own pace with the new time trials. Whether you're learning a new track, perfecting your racing lines or chasing a personal best, you can now practice without the pressure of racing. Take on the track's fastest lap ghost, push for a new record and make the most of your downtime.

A new home

Racing has found a new home on the laptop, bringing with it a completely redesigned experience. Every race now has its own dedicated page, bringing together racers, rules, betting and live chat, all in one place.

Your Dashboard

Here you can keep track of live and upcoming races, your daily progress, recent results and your rating over time.

TRACKS

Browse every track in the city with the ability to preview the route and its lap records.

Leaderboard

See who's dominating the streets with dedicated leaderboards for ranked racers and crews. Climb the seasonal standings, build your crew's reputation and compete for the top spot.

Tournaments

Discover upcoming tournaments, compete for prize pools, follow live standings or organize your own events.

Pink Slips

From here, you can place your ride on the line and challenge rival racers, respond to showdowns and keep track of upcoming pink slip races.

Crew

Manage members, track reputation and performance, and handle invitations and join requests.

Hosting a race

Everything you could set before is still here but now there's a lot more to play with!

Auto Start

Set a countdown to start automatically, or take control and start the race when everyone's ready.

Any Currency

Raise the stakes by setting your race buy-in using cash, SVC or EVC.

First Person Only

Level the playing field by locking every racer into first-person for an immersive driving challenge.

No Nitrous

Disable nitrous for a clean race without the extra boost.

Your Rules

Set custom countdowns, DNF timers and grids of up to 64 racers.

Full Control

Schedule races in advance, end them early or leave without disrupting the action.

Live Race Map

Follow the action as it unfolds with a live map showing every racer's position in real time. Keep an eye on the competition, cheer on your friends or follow the racer you've backed, watching every twist and turn from start to finish.

Checkpoint beams & smoke flares

Introducing two new ways to navigate the track. See upcoming checkpoints with distance indicators or follow colored smoke flares guiding you through the race. Red marks the starting line, blue guides you through checkpoints, green signals the start of a new lap and gold marks the finish line.

Tournaments

Take racing to the next level with fully organized tournaments. Choose your format, set entry fees, secure sponsorships and compete for prize pools, while the app takes care of registrations, rounds, standings and payouts.

Points Series

Every position counts, earn points across multiple rounds and climb the standings to become champion.

Groups

Racers are divided into groups of four, earning points based on their finishing positions.

Brackets

Go head-to-head in single or double elimination brackets, with best-of rounds leading to the grand final.

Solo or Crew

Compete individually or bring your crew along for team-based tournaments.

Prize Pools

Fund the prize pool through entry fees, business sponsorships or both, with fully customizable payouts.

Scheduled Rounds

Plan rounds in advance for up to 64 entrants, with notifications to keep everyone in the loop.

A double elimination bracket, from the first round to the grand final.

Betting

Watching a race just got a lot more exciting! Back your favorite racers, predict their finishing positions and compete for a share of the prize pool. With multiple betting options and live payouts, every race brings something new to play for.

Winner

Back a racer to take first place. Higher risk, bigger potential rewards.

Top 3, Top 5, Top 10

Play it safer by betting on a podium or top finish, with more options available for larger races.

SHARED PRIZE POOL

Every bet adds to a shared prize pool, with winnings distributed among successful bets. See your potential payout before placing your bet.

JOIN THE CONVERSATION

Put money on a race and you get a seat in its chat.

Keep it clean

To keep betting fair, it's available on races with at least 5 participants. You can place one bet per race, ranging from $500 to $50,000, but cannot bet on members of your own crew. A 10% house fee applies to all betting pools.

Pink slips

The oldest bet in street racing is coming to Echo! Challenge another racer, put your cars on the line and prove you've got what it takes. No cash prizes, no second chances. Just two racers, two cars and one winner who drives away with both.

Del Perro loop, 3 laps, your car against mine.

You're on. Hope you like walking.

Saturday at 9, don't be late.

Wouldn't miss it.

Send a Challenge

Choose your track, set the laps and put your car on the line. Your opponent has 24 hours to accept and stake their own vehicle.

Set a Date

Set your showdown anywhere from 30 minutes to 7 days in advance, with the flexibility to reschedule.

Cars Locked In

Once both cars are committed, they're locked until the challenge is settled. No backing out by selling your ride.

Show Up

The lobby opens 10 minutes before race time. Fail to show within 15 minutes of the start and you forfeit.

Same Car

No last-minute swaps, you must finish the race in the same vehicle you put on the line.

Officially Reviewed

Every claim is reviewed by race officials to ensure fair game before you part ways with your loss.

WINNER TAKES THE SLIP

Cross the finish line first and claim your opponent's car. The ultimate prize is theirs to lose and yours to win. Hand the slip in at any public garage within 7 days to claim your loot. Every slip shows whether it's been claimed, voided or expired.

Crews

Racing is better with a team behind you. Build your own crew for 3500 SVC, create your identity with a custom tag and logo, and recruit up to 15 racers. Compete together, build your reputation and race your way to the top of the crew rankings.

Earn Rep

Earn reputation for your crew with every finish, with bigger rewards for podium placements and double reputation in sponsored races. Every race counts!

Climb the Board

Rise through the crew rankings, track your progress and see exactly how much reputation separates you from the next position.

Recruit

Assemble your dream team by inviting racers directly, or review applications from those looking to join your crew.

Race as One

Take on rival crews in team-based tournaments and prove who really owns the streets.

Crew battles

Challenge another crew to an all-out showdown with up to 15 racers on each side. Put your reputation on the line or raise the stakes with a crew pink slip, where each side wagers a car and the winning crew takes both.

A FRESH START FOR RANKED

A new season, a better competitive experience. Ranked racing returns with improved season resets and placement races, giving everyone a fairer start while rewarding the skill and dedication of our top racers. We've kept the ranks and rewards the same, but you now need a minimum of 10 ranked races to qualify for a payout.

Soft Reset

Keep your hard-earned progress between seasons. Your rating is partially reset, giving experienced racers a head start without guaranteeing a top rank.

Placement Races

Your opening three races carry double the weight, helping you reach your rightful rank faster.

Quitting Costs You

Leaving early means a last-place finish and an additional penalty (crashes and server disconnections won't count against you).

NEW TRACK BUILDER

We've completely rebuilt the track builder from the ground up, giving you more freedom and control than ever before. With an all-new freecam editor, you can explore the city, precisely position checkpoints and bring your racing creations to life. Over 200 tracks were built on the old phone app and they're being migrated to the laptop, so the routes you know aren't going anywhere.

Preview any route and its lap records before you race it.

Aim and Place

Using freecam, point at each edge of the road to set the gate and its width.

Jump Around

Skip straight to any checkpoint to fix one halfway through the route.

Delete Mode

Made a mistake? Remove unwanted checkpoints without having to start your creation from scratch.

Drafts

Creativity takes time. Save your progress as a draft and pick up right where you left off.

Records and Previews

Every track keeps its lap records, and you can preview the route before you race it.

UNLIMITED CREATIVITY

More ideas than space? Expand your collection with additional track slots for just 1000 SVC each.

BEYOND THE FINISH LINE

Race Officials

Take charge of organized racing with dedicated management tools for overseeing events, reviewing results and managing blacklisted racers.

Police Events

Bring racing to the right side of the law. Officers get a dedicated, streamlined experience for hosting official police racing events.

Race Chat

Keep the conversation going with dedicated race lobbies and live chat, bringing racers together before the lights go out.

RACER PROFILES

Make your mark with a custom racing identity. Choose your name, set an avatar and track your competitive progress.

Results and History

Full results for every race, and a history of everything you've run.

Under the hood

With the racing systems we had before, we identified issues in the code that were inefficient and heavy on our backend systems which prevented big races from happening. Due to this, alongside all the new features, we made optimization a priority focus by taking a closer look at how racing operated behind the scenes, identifying inefficiencies, reducing unnecessary workload and making improvements designed to keep everything running smoothly.

SMARTER UPDATES

Information is now sent only to players actively viewing the relevant page, eliminating unnecessary updates across the city.

Lighter Live Positions

Race position updates now focus on the top three and your own standing, transmitting only when something changes.

Faster Finishes

Race results, ratings, lap records and history are now processed together, reducing database operations at the finish line.

LESS DATABASE LOAD

Checkpoints and lap progress are tracked in memory, keeping unnecessary database activity out of the race.

Fair Limits

Built-in rate limits prevent excessive requests from impacting performance for everyone else.

Ready When You Are

Frequently accessed data is cached, allowing dashboards, leaderboards, crews and profiles to load without unnecessary rebuilding.

Racing on the laptop is with our playtesters now, and it releases alongside the new phone. See you on the grid.
